CITROEN to showcase its eco-friendly concept car C-Cactus

CITROEN showcased its eco-friendly concept car ‘C-Cactus’ during Auto China 2008.

CITROEN showcased its eco-friendly concept car ‘C-Cactus’ during Auto China 2008.The C-Cactus is powered by a 70 Hp diesel and 30 Hp electric motor. The most interesting thing about the car however is probably the interior design. The C-Cactus is very simple and stylized using very few parts in the construction. The door and seats are made from just two parts each for example. You won’t need to open the window, so Citroen provides a slider in the door. You can put the car in an all-electric or ZEV(Zero Emission Vehicle) mode for city driving. The mat is recycled and many parts of made from cork, a very green material.

Over all the car is light, doesn’t emit a lot of CO2 and uses fuel efficiently. We will have more details when the show actually starts September 13.

BMW S1000RR Superbike

BMW S1000RR superbike was unveiled in Germany yesterday. They also confirm that their new motorcycles will be available to customers in 2009, and they will build 1,000 production models by the end of next year.

The S1000RR won’t be appropriating any of BMW’s forward-thinking front-end suspension technologies, instead relying on a traditional telescopic fork: “For package reasons we have decided against the BMW Duo-Lever on the suspension. Taking up more space, this kind of front-wheel geometry would have presented disadvantages with the very compact structure of BMW’s new Superbike.” Pity really - BMW are the only major manufacturer that’s producing viable alternatives to the telescopic fork, and it would have been good to see them proven in the heat of competition. Toyota Hi-CT hybrid concept car offers an enjoyable vehicle with weird looking design, but according to Toyota’s team of young Japanese and European designers, this is the reflection of what a cool and great vehicle should look like. The idea behind this hybrid concept car is the theme of “unbalanced”, creating something that make people stop and take a good look.

The Hi-CT is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5L motor and uses lithium-ion batteries, which are located underneath the floor of the vehicle in order to maximize the interior space of the car. While it looks quite boxy and big, it is in fact quite small. The entire vehicle is 3.3 meters long, 1.6 meters wide and 1.7 meters high. It is, effectively, a cube on wheels.

 Lorinser ML Black & White

We have all seen black & white movies and even though we felt that there’s a need of color there, the black & white combination always looks good. The latest modified car from Lorinser has this lovely combination and it’s called Sportservice ML Black & White. They modified a Mercedes-Benz ML 320 CDI and tried to turn it into a more agressive and sportier car. Those 22″ black rims look really great on the car and that black grill and black windows add a great contrast and a misterious look to this car. The new body kit has aerodynamic elements like: front and rear bumper, side skirts and new exhaust. I’m pretty sure that when you’re driving this car your self confidence will be really high.  The white color makes this car look really peaceful but this car is a speed demon because the guys from Lorinser modified the car’s engine too.
