Two New Digital Photo Frames From Viewsonic

ViewSonic just announced a pair of 800×600 digital photo frames, the DPG801BK and the DPG807BK.  They’re basically the same product, 500:1 contrast ratio and 512MB internal memory, nothing special, except the DPG807BK comes with a remote control.  No wi-fi on both, and while they look pretty sleek, they barely scream past mediocre.  $119 and $159, respectively, I’m not sure if the remote control is worth the extra $40.  If all that’s not enough for your memories,  you can add more memory with either the USB port or the memory card slot.

 sanyo-r227.jpg

Sanyo comes back with a new WiFi-enabled R227 Tabletop Radio. The device offers standard FM reception with thousands of internet stations and podcasts. It also has stereo speakers, one-button on / off, a bundled remote, an Ethernet jack, auxiliary input for DAPs and an audio output to connect with the sound systems.

The R227 also has an auxiliary jack to allow users to connect their personal audio players, and will support AAC, AIFF, MP3, RM, WAV, WMA files as well as M3V playlists stored on a networked computer. A headphone jack is present, while an output will let users connect the radio to external audio systems when the 4W of power from the R227’s dual speakers is not enough.

A clock and alarm are part of the R227’s features, allowing users to wake up to Internet or FM radio programming as well as buzzer.

The R227 in a black wood gloss finish will ship to retailers in Canada late in October, with pricing set at $220CAD (about $172).
