
American PSP owners will be able to enjoy GPS navigation some time next year. Not only will the platform support navigation and maps, as expected, but John Koller wants to offer something a bit more. SCEA is investigating game development which can take advantage of GPS technology. Koller told MTV Multiplayer the upcoming peripheral “changes the dynamics of GPS but also changes the way developers think about games on PSP because you can start integrating GPS into it.” According to Koller, Sony will introduce the GPS solution to third party publishers and is currently brainstorming ideas within its first-party studios. “There’s been a number of things that our first-party worldwide studios have looked at, and they’ve been trying to look at different options,” he said.

The BDP-S350 supports AVCHD discs encoded with x.v.Color™ (xvYCC) technology, an international standard for wide color space reproduction. The standard expands the current data range of video by about 1.8 times, allowing the players to output more natural and vivid colors similar to what the human eye actually sees in the natural world. The players also feature compatibility with an array of video formats, including BD-R/RE (BDMV and BDAV modes), DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, CD, CD-R/RW (CD-DA format), and JPEG on DVD/CD recordable media.

The handheld revolves around a 4.8-inch, 800×480 touchscreen but also has a slide-out keyboard and a directional pad. Internet access is supplied over Wi-Fi as well as 3G cellular providers using HSDPA, either of which lets the M528 capture photos or video with its 3-megapixel back camera or join video chats with a VGA front camera. A stock version of the Gigabyte computer comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of flash storage that support its custom version of Linux.

iRiver announced the launch of its newest portable digital audio player, the Volcano T7. Available in either 2GB or 4GB versions, the compact T7 features an OLED display to showcase data information. Supported audio formats include MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG, which can be uploaded to the USB key-style player simply by plugging it into a computer’s USB 2.0 port. The player also features a built-in FM tuner with a recording function as well as voice recorder thanks to a built-in microphone. Available in either white, black, pink, blue or chocolate, the T7 is thus far only offered in Korea and Europe. Equivalent prices for the T7 are expected to cost about $54 for the 2GB version and $77 for the 4GB version.

Adopting a 5-inch touch screen, 1GB of RAM and 40GB HDD, the Willcom D4 supports 1-Seg mobile TV, wireless LAN, Bluetooth connectivity, 1.98M camera and micro SD card slot.
Measuring 192.3×84×25.9mm at 470g, it is expected to be available for between 120,000 and 130,000(JPY).
