Manhattan men’s accessories company Kale Miles is marketing a new leather belt that retails for a cool $18,000. Although, the belts from the house usually run $240 to $380, this heavily- priced belt costs more than a car or 400 percent more than the $45 version from Banana Republic.

The bulk of the price comes from the buckle: It’s platinum, about seven-to-eight ounces’ worth. At press time, an ounce of platinum was $1,600. If the price goes up or down in a day, that will change the cost of the belt. The finished product is one single layer of thick cowhide that retains its shape for decades and the average weight of each belt, excluding the buckle, is around nine ounces. It’s time to tighten your pant and the wallet too.
